Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about DCF valuation, Reverse DCF, and how TreasureX works — no jargon, no sales pitch.
What is a DCF (discounted cash flow) valuation?
A DCF values a company by projecting its future cash flows and discounting them back to today's dollars using a required rate of return (WACC). If the resulting intrinsic value is higher than the market price, the stock may be undervalued; if lower, it may be overvalued. TreasureX's free DCF wizard does this calculation for you in about 60 seconds — enter a ticker, adjust growth/margin/risk assumptions, and get a Bull/Base/Bear range instantly.
What is a Reverse DCF and how is it different from a regular DCF?
A regular DCF starts with your growth assumptions and outputs a fair value. A Reverse DCF works backwards: it starts with today's market price and solves for the growth rate the market must already be pricing in. This tells you what the crowd believes has to happen for the current price to be justified — useful for spotting stocks priced for perfection versus stocks the market is sleeping on.
Is TreasureX free to use?
Yes. The DCF wizard, Reverse DCF, financial health scores, dividend safety analysis, paper trading with $100,000 in virtual cash, and the investor social feed are all free. TreasureX is built for retail investors who don't have access to Bloomberg terminals or professional analyst research.
What is the Piotroski F-Score?
The Piotroski F-Score is a 9-point checklist (profitability, leverage/liquidity, and operating efficiency trends) used to grade the financial health of a company from public filings. A higher score (7-9) suggests improving fundamentals; a low score (0-2) suggests deteriorating financial health. TreasureX computes this automatically for any US-listed stock from real 10-year financial history.
Can I practice investing without using real money?
Yes — TreasureX includes a paper-trading simulator that starts you with $100,000 in virtual cash. You can buy and sell real stocks at live market prices, track your gains/losses, and compare your returns against other users on the leaderboard, with zero real financial risk.
How does TreasureX know when my investment thesis breaks?
When you track a thesis for a stock, TreasureX's AI turns your reasoning into a checklist of specific, falsifiable conditions. A background job periodically re-checks the company's fundamentals and news, and pushes a notification the moment the underlying health score drops meaningfully — so you find out your thesis cracked from your phone, not three months later in a 10-Q.
Does TreasureX give investment advice or stock recommendations?
No. TreasureX is an educational calculation and tracking tool. Every value shown — DCF fair value, health scores, dividend safety — is computed from assumptions you provide or public financial data. It is not investment advice, and TreasureX does not recommend buying or selling any security. Always do your own research.
